Kauai Golf

If you are a golfing enthusiast I would highly recommend taking your game to Hawaii. The golf on Hawaii's Kauai Island is first class all the way around. The spectacular views on every course almost make you forget your game and just stand there in awe.

You can choose from eight different golf courses on the island. All of them are award-winning courses. No matter how well, or for that matter how poorly you play, there is a course to challenge your abilities.

The Kiele Course is a magnificent course. There is plenty of sand and water around to test your nerve and skill level. Many players say the back nine is the easier than the front nine with holes numbers three-six playing the most difficult. The course will reward a well-hit gutsy shot.

The Mokihana Course is a Jack Nicklaus designed links style course course. Any level of golfer, even the higher handicappers, can play this course. The fairways are wide and open. The course's defenses are its undulating greens.

The Puakea Golf Course for years was only a ten-hole golf course due to hurricane Iniki. It is now full eighteen holes. This course has views of the gorgeous mountains in Hawaii. This helps to add to the difficulties of the course as it funnels the winds. So be prepared to play the elements here.

Princeville at Hanalei’s Prince course is a course that offers you five different tee boxes to hit from. So any level of golfer can enjoy the round. There is water on quite a few holes. Practice your sand outs I'm sure you will need them here. This course was ranked #5 of the top 75 golf resorts.

Hanalei also offers the Makai Course. This is a unique course offering you three nine-hole courses that you can combine to make eighteen. You have the nine holes that run along the Pacific Ocean. The "2nd" nine winds around the lake. Then you have the nine holes that go through the woodlands.

The Poipu Bay course is probably the most well known course. The PGA Grand Slam of Golf is played here. The course also has carts that have GPS guidance so you will not have to guess what is ahead of you, or how far you are from the green. If you are a lower handicap this course is for you.

The Kiahuna Golf Course is probably better for mid to lower handicappers. The course is not particularly long but the fairways are narrow. You will also need the ability to hit the high shot to go over natural obstacles on the course, like lava walls.

Kauai is a truly gorgeous place to golf. There is something for every golfer. The resorts are exquisite and you can get golf packages. The only course that will allow you to walk is the Kiahuna. None of the courses provide caddies.

If you somehow forgot your golf clubs you can rent them at any of the courses. Don't forget a camera the scenery here is like nowhere else. Remember, hit straight and keep it in the short grass!
