Kauai Nude Beaches

Nudity is technically illegal in beaches in Hawaii. However, the de facto reality is that there are a number of Kauai nude beaches, where people go nude all the time.

If you do get caught, the worst that can happen is you get a ticket. When you're looking for a great nude beach to go to, it's important to do your research to ensure that the beach you're going to is really nudist friendly.

Two such beaches are Secret Beach and Larsen's Beach. Tunnels Beach and Donkey Beach are also semi-popular.

Secret Beach

Secret beach (also known as Kauapea Beach) is considered the best Kauai nude beach. The location is secluded and secretive, making it optimal for going nude. In fact, you need to hike 20 minutes to even get to Secret Beach.

To get to Secret Beach, take Kilauea on Rt. 56 until you hit Kalihiwai Road. Secret beach is off a red dirt path off Kalihiwai Road.

Larsen's Beach

Larsen's Beach is another popular Kauai nude beach. The beach is quite narrow and spans about two miles. It has a great reef offshore and snorkeling is quite popular here. On a typical day at Larsen's Beach, you'll likely run into a good mix of nude sunbathers and snorkelers.

To get to Larsen's Beach, take the Kuhio Higher until you get to the Koolau Road exit. Keep driving until you see signs for Larsen's Beach. Take a right and keep driving until you get to the end of the street. Part and walk the trail to the beach.

Tunnels Beach and Donkey Beach

Donkey Beach is a formerly popular nudist beach that isn't so popular anymore. Why? Because at one point, the owner decided to hire private security to keep nudists away. Although there isn't always security there, you're definitely taking a risk by going nude at Donkey Beach.

Tunnels Beach is another semi-popular Kauai nude beach. The beach is only half nude. The west is generally the clothed section, while the east is the nude section.

Going nude in Hawaii can be a lot of fun. However, it's important to do your research beforehand to ensure you don't get a ticket. Among the Kauai nude beaches, Secret Beach and Larsen's Beach are generally your best bets.
