Hanalei Bay Activities

Hanalei Bay Kauai

Hanalei Bay is large bay on the North Shore of Kaua'i in Hawai'i, as well as one of the best beaches in Hawaii.

It's the most scenic spots on Kauai and a mecca for beach enthusiasts -- from world class surfers to families wanting to enjoy boogie boarding. Give a try to surfing, sand castle building, jogging, kayaking, fishing or just a walk to take in all the beauty, and a sunset.

Hanalei Bay is a large crescent shaped bay with some of the best beaches on Kauai and is spectacular from an aerial perspective. It's framed by a long half-moon of sandy beaches, which makes it great for taking long walks.

Lumahai Beach, located around the bend from Hanalei Bay, is approximately one mile long.

One word of warning: The bay is subject to high surf, especially during the winter months.

Hanalei

The village of Hanalei is located on the north-central coast of the island, on the banks of the Hanalei River. In Hanalei, the Dolphin Restaurant is a great place to stop for lunch and dine near the river.

Makua Beach, commonly referred to as Tunnels, is a long, wide beach starting at Hanalei Colony Resort and running two miles to just past Ha'ena Beach Park.

The Hanalei wildlife refuge includes 917 acres of taro farms, bottomland, and wooded slopes in the Hanalei River Valley.

Hanalei Bay is everything you would expect, and far more, from Hawaii. With over two miles of clean, white sand bordering its inner margin and a backdrop of waterfalls and mountains peaks ranging from 1,000 to 4,000 feet high, Hanalei Bay is considered by many visitors and residents to be the most beautiful beach setting in Hawai'i.
