Kauai's East Shore Beaches -2

Lydgate State Park

Lydgate State ParkThis is one of Kauai's better beachs for swimming, picnicking and snorkeling. You'll find clean restrooms, lifeguards, and a playground - which make it great for families with children or who just want to hang out at the beach all day.

There are 2 small ponds, protected from the ocean surge, so the family can swim without worrying about getting knocked around in the surf. If you're into snorkeling, you'll find a wide variety of fish to enjoy.

Ninini Beach

There's good snorkeling on Ninini, which is located below the Marriott Hotel. for those days not calm enough to go snorkeling, take a drive to Ninini Lighthouse. If someone is working when you arrive, ask to go to he top because the views are spectacular.

Niumalu Beach Park

Not the place for swimming or snorkeling, but if you're into kayaking this is a great place. And if you're a real film buff you may even recognize the area where scenes from," Raiders of the Lost Ark" where filmed.

Nukoli'l Beach Park

Located from Lidgate Park to the far end of the Radisson Hotel, Nukoli'l Beach runs along the Wailua Golf Course and features an often deserted sandy beach. Just watch out for the surf and strong current if you go swimming or snorkeling.

Wailua Beach

Wailua BeachThis large, wind-swept beach with the Wailua river feeding into it offers surfers wind-swells and plenty of thrills. Just watch out for the strong currents and powerful waves breaking on the sandbars. Because of the swells, strong currents, and no reef to support for fish, snorkeling is best left to other beaches.

Waipouli Beach (Fuji Beach)

Waipoli Beach is not the place to swim or snorkle because of its strong currents and surf.
